SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

At the Department of Plastic Surgery, K. E. M. Hospital
I had the opportunity to work with the Cranio-facial Surgeon, Dr.K.S.Goleria & the Microsurgeon, Dr.S.R.Tambwekar.
Both are pioneers in their respective fields, in our country.

THE CRANIOFACIAL WORK INVOLVED . (In association with Neurosurgery Dept.)

Correction of deformities of skull resulting from Craniosynostoses,a conditions In which cranial sutures fuse prematurely.

Excision of tumors of head & face especially of orbital region including hemangiomas and its reconstruction.

Repair & reconstruction of congenital defects like naso-frontal encephalocoeles, spina Bifida, etc.

Skull & scalp reconstruction following ablative surgery.
 

THE MICROSURGICAL WORK INVOLVED

Replantation of amputated extremities/digits.

Reanimation of face following facial paralysis using cross face nerve grafts,

Hypoglossal – facial anastamosis, etc.

Repair & reconstruction of nerve injuries including brachial plexus injuries.

Free myocutaneous flap for tissue deficits of the lower limbs.

 

A.O.MAXILLOFACIAL COURSE.

Attended the A.O.MAXILOFACIAL COURSE (Stable Internal Fixation with Plates and Screws in Mandibular and Maxillofacial Trauma, organized by A.O.INTERNATIONAL under the Chairmanship of Professor WIILLRIED SCHILLI . ( Germany ) held on April 9 th & 10 th –96 in New Delhi , INDIA .

   

MICRO SURGERY

Appointed as a Faculty Member for Basic Course on Micro Surgical Techniques Organized by Indian Society for Reconstructive Micro Surgery at Ethicon Institute of Surgical Education, in Mumbai. This course was started in August 96 and is being conducted on a bimonthly basis. In each course 12 students from various branches in Medicine are taught basic Microsurgical Techniques.

   

ENDOSCOPIC PLASTIC SURGERY

Appointed as a Faculty Member by Indian Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery to organize a pre conference Hands On workshop on endoscopic harvesting of lattisimus dorsi and a loop of jejunum in a pig during its biennial conference in Mumbai in February 2002.
